Public Notice: Hazard Mitigation Meeting

PLU is applying for two grants to make improvements in the seismic and structural performance of Foss and Pfleuger Residence Hall. The proposal includes retrofitting the halls to improve safety and reduce damage during an earthquake.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the university is conducting two public meetings for the Tacoma/Pierce County community to comment on a grant proposal requesting federal (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and state matching funds through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
The pubic meetings will be held at noon and 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the Garfield Book Company.
PLU must provide up to a 25 percent in matching funds and there is a local planning requirement to apply for this grant.
