Mail delivery change
March 16, 2009
The two-month trial period in campus Mail Services for moving from two mail deliveries to one mail delivery each weekday has been a qualified success. Most departments and offices have fully adjusted to the change which benefits the university by reducing the full-time staff in Mail Services by one clerk.
“We have spoken with office managers across campus many of whom would prefer two deliveries but understand and support the move to one delivery a day,” said Greg Brewis, executive director of University Communications. “We have decided to make the change permanent.”
The mail is now picked up and delivered on campus between 9 a.m. and noon. An afternoon mail pickup was initially established in the business office in Hauge. Mail dropped there and at Mail Services by 3 p.m. is guaranteed to be in the off-campus mail stream that day and to be delivered on campus the next morning.
At the request of several offices on campus, 3 p.m. satellite mail drops were also established at the Campus Concierge and in the Music Department office.
