Campus Carnival

February 20, 2009

The International Club and the Trinidad and Tobago students are once again hosting its annual Campus Carnival beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27 until 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

Festivities will be held at the Cave in the UC, in Lagerquist Hall in the Mary Baker Russell Music Center and at other campus locations.

Campus Carnival is a cultural extravaganza displaying the history of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival. For more information, contact Kareen Ottley at 253-535-5510 or by e-mail at ottleyks@plu.edu.

However this year, in keeping with the mission of Pacific Lutheran University, the club is collaborating with the Invisible Children United Club and all donations will from the event will go to this organization.

This year’s carnival is once again free to students (and $5 for the general public), but in an effort to support the Invisible Children’s club, a small admissions fee will be charged to the general public and donation boxes will be set up around the Lagerquist concert hall on the night of the event. This event is also a part of the Wang Center’s global conversations.

As part of Campus Carnival, students from the International Club shared with Campus Voice some of the history of Carnival and about PLU’s Invisible Children. Check out the History link HERE and about PLU’s Invisible Children HERE.
