Our Lutes gave a good show at this home football game last month, even though the ending score was not in PLU’s favor, 7-16 against California Lutheran.
PLU had won eight of the previous 13 games between the
two schools in an intermittent series dating back to 1967.
In this Sept. 20 non-conference game, the Lutes got a strong defensive effort from senior linebackers Neal Chalmers and Haden Gienger. Chalmers finished with 14 tackles, including two for a loss, while Gienger had 10 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery and an interception. Andy Sturza and Tony Slater each had a pair of Pacific Lutheran's eight quarterback sacks.
PLU opens Northwest Conference action at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, facing Lewis & Clark College at Griswold Stadium in Portland, Ore.
