Costco VP wraps up MBA speaker series

The senior vice president of Costco Wholesale’s international division wraps up the State Farm MBA Executive Leadership Series on Tuesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. in the Morken Public Events Room.
In his position, James Murphy directs the activities and expansion of Costco’s operations outside of North America and oversees the U.S.-based global buying and export groups.
Murphy joined Costco Wholesale in January of 1987. He has held various leadership positions within the company, including senior vice president of the European division, senior vice president and general manager for the Northeast region, vice president of operations for the Northern California region and general manager of the Oregon warehouse.
Murphy serves as a member of the Costco Executive Committee and is the recipient of the 2007 Pierce College Distinguished Alumni Award. He also serves on the University of Washington Global Business Advisory Board and the Seattle University Global Business Advisory Board.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and his master’s from the University of Portland.
