KPLU jazz cruises return this summer

May 02, 2008

After a two-year hiatus, KPLU’s Sunday Jazz Brunch Cruises return on June 8 with a performance by Gypsy swing artist Pearl Django aboard Argosy Cruises’ Royal Argosy.

The summertime cruise series was resurrected for its 16th season due to listener demand. A total of three cruises are schedules, with melodic jazz pianist Jessica Williams and her trio performing July 13, and popular Northwest jazz vocalist Gail Pettis closing out the series July 20. Cruises are hosted by KPLU on-air personalities.

Along with music and breathtaking views, passengers will be treated a scrumptious brunch of pastries, tropical fruit, cheese blintzes, prawn cocktails and smoked salmon.

The Royal Argosy departs from Seattle’s Pier 56 at 10:30 a.m. and returns at 1 p.m. The boat has three levels. The band plays on the first level, and video screens and speakers are located throughout the boat.

Seats are reserved and are assigned in the order reservations are received. Tickets cost $59.

More information and tickets for all cruises is available at KPLU’s Web site and at 1-800-677-5758 during business hours.

The cruises are sponsored by Isernio Sausage and Point Ruston in Tacoma.
