Students receive economics scholarships

April 25, 2008

The economics department recognized six outstanding economic students with cash awards for this academic year.

Recipients of the Ankrim-Miller Endowed Scholarship were Yang Cao, Rachel Chong, Elizabeth Lonsdale, Denise Signer and Adam Whistler. The award is granted to freshmen students that demonstrated high scholastic achievement in the Principles of Microeconomics course and includes at least $1,000 to help with tuition expenses.

Additionally, Justin Peterson received the Stanley and Terryl Brue Endowed Scholarship, which is a merit-based award granted each year to an outstanding sophomore or junior student majoring in economics. He received $1,200 to offset his tuition expenses.

All award recipients will have their name inscribed on a plaque that hangs in the economics department in Xavier Hall. Learn more about the economics major here.
