Drop, cover and hold on Tuesday
April 18, 2008
There will be an earthquake drill at PLU on Tuesday, April 22 at 9:40 a.m. You will hear an earthquake drill announcement and possibly an air horn. Please do the following.
Drop down where you are. (Really!) Take cover under or beside something sturdy, such as a desk, table or sofa. Protect your head and neck with an arm. Hold that position until the shaking stops (30 seconds for the drill).
Gather your belongings. If you have an emergency kit, take it with you. If you don’t have one, consider purchasing one at the Garfield Book Company or learn how to make one.
Go to the Emergency Assembly Point for the building you are in during the drill and check in with your Emergency Building Coordinator.
Instructors who are in class during the drill should lead during the drop, cover, hold portion and take roll call during the evacuation portion. Please pass roll call information on to the coordinator. The coordinator will let people back into the building before 9:55 a.m.
For more information go to the emergency preparedness Web site.
