Choral Union to perform major choral works
March 07, 2008
The Choral Union will perform March 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. in Lagerquist Concert Hall.
The performance includes Benjamin Britten’s “Cantata Misericordium,” based on the parable of the Good Samaritan, and features soloists James Brown, tenor, and Charles Robert Stephens, baritone. Choral Activities Director Richard Nance will conduct.
Also included in the program are Psalms 86 and 148 by Gustav Holst, three motets by Charles Villars Stanford and Britten’s “Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings.”
The Choral Union is a mixed chorus of PLU students and community members that explores major works in the choral and orchestral repertoire. They often perform with the Northwest Sinfonietta, a regional professional orchestra based in Tacoma.
Admission is $5 for students, faculty, staff and alumni. For more information, contact the music department at ext. 7787 or music@plu.edu.
