Lee to highlight PLU’s partnership with local schools

February 13, 2008

John Lee, dean of the School of Education and Movement Studies, will speak at a luncheon hosted by Communities in the Schools on Feb. 28.

Lee’s talk, “Habits of the Heart and Mind,” will touch on a variety of topics. These include the importance of a caring adult, a value system, reaching the next generation of kids, improving student achievement in Tacoma’s public schools and PLU’s partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and CIS Tacoma.

The luncheon also features an address by the organization’s founder, Bill Milliken. Communities in Schools of Tacoma is part of a nationwide network with the goal of connecting community resources with schools to help kids learn, stay in school and prepare for life.
