Get in shape this spring
February 01, 2008
Spin, yoga and Tai Chi classes are all on the spring fitness schedule sponsored by Human Resource Services.
SIL’s Allison Stephens will teach spin classes on Monday and Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym. While the first session from Feb. 11 to April 3 is already full (there is a waitlist), there are still spots available for the second session from April 7 to May 29. The cost per session is $27, or $50 for both.
Elizabeth Johnson with Elizabeth’s Holistic Health will hold an Introduction to Yoga class on Feb. 14 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in University Center 133. The one-time class is free and reservations are encouraged.
Finally, political science professor Sid Olufs will teach Tai Chi classes on Tuesdays from Feb. 12 to May 13. The 40-minute classes begin at 12:05 p.m. and are free. Reservations are encouraged.
Most classes will take place in the UC’s Regency Room. Exceptions include the Feb. 12 class in Chris Knutzen Hall East, and the April 8 and 15 classes in UC 133. The classes are designed for people who have never studied Tai Chi with a teacher. Olufs is an instructor at Tai Chi and Qigong Wellness in Tacoma.
For more information, or to make reservations, contact human resources at ext. 7185.
