Brusco keynote speaker at international conference

February 01, 2008

Anthropology professor Elizabeth Brusco presented a keynote lecture at the European Research Network on Global Pentecostalism conference Feb. 2.

Her lecture was titled “Repression or Liberation? Gender and Power in Pentecostal/Charismatic Movements.”

The international conference, titled “Theory and Method in the Study of Global Pentecostalism,” was held at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Through a series of workshops, the two-day event addressed the need for a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to the research of global Pentecostalism.

The conference included theological presentations along with interdisciplinary explorations of central issues such as globalization, gender and the definition of “Pentecostalism.” Various doctoral and post-doctoral research projects were also presented and illustrated the scope of current research on the topic.
