Those looking for things to do on campus this J-Term won’t have to look any further than SIL’s Web site.

The ASPLU programming board worked together to create a comprehensive calendar of events, dubbed "21 Things to Do Under 21.” Activities are scheduled for virtually every day of the term.

“J-Term is a time where students are more intensely into their classes on campus, but generally, they have more free time,” said ASPLU President Carl Pierce. “We’re trying to cater to that need.”

The programming board tried to have as little overlap as possible in the planned activities, Pierce said. The group looked at those events already planned, and then filled in the gaps.

The calendar includes the Residence Hall Association’s annual PLU Idol singing competition, held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Lagerquist Concert Hall. Students on the docket to compete next week include Troy Gessler, Natalie Taylor, Kingsley Kalohelani, Kyle Sinclair, Zach Pfrimmer and Shannon Herried.

The Wang Center for International Programs’ film series on global health issues is also listed. The center is partnering with campus organizations to show a film each Wednesday at 8 p.m. in either Ingram 100 or The Cave through Feb. 12.

The film series leads up to the Wang Center’s symposium “Advances in Global Health by Non-Governmental Organizations” slated for Feb. 21 and 22. The symposium includes speeches by Stephen Lewis, formerly the Special Envoy to U.N. Secretary Kofi Annan, and alum William Foege, a senior fellow at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Other events listed on the calendar include weekly a Chapel service, Outdoor Rec trips, club meetings, activities in The Cave and sporting events.
