Spreading holiday cheer

December 07, 2007

The Choir of the West, University Chorale and members of the University Symphony Orchestra hit the road two weeks ago for PLU’s annual Christmas concert tour.

The musicians performed “Rejoice: A Christmas celebration concert from the campus of PLU” at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland, Ore., on Nov. 30; at First Presbyterian Church in Seattle on Dec. 1; and on campus Dec. 2.

The annual concerts feature anthems, processionals, carols, narration and audience participation. This year marked the premiere “Sinfonia and Processional: Rejoice!,” which was named for the concerts’ theme and written by PLU composer Greg Youtz.

This photo gallery contains the behind-the scenes images of the tour, documenting the ensembles’ long bus trips and rehearsals. The images were captured by student photographer Daniel Ahrendt.
