Christmas Jam live from Lagerquist

KPLU will host its 11th annual Christmas Jam live broadcast on Thursday, Dec. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. in Lagerquist Concert Hall.
The popular Christmas jazz concert features trumpeter Lance Buller, vocalist Stephanie Porter and their band. Buller and Porter will perform Christmas selections with the University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of David Joyner, director of PLU jazz studies.
Musical selections include “Waltz of the Flowers,” “I'll Be Home For Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Santa Baby.” KPLU’s Robin Lloyd will host the live concert, which will be broadcast again at noon on Christmas Day.
The event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating, tickets are required. Beginning Nov. 26, listeners can print up to four tickets per person off the KPLU Web site at www.kplu.org or reserve tickets by calling 1-800-677-5758 during regular business hours.
The doors open at 11:30 a.m., and early arrival is strongly suggested because seating is on a first come, first served basis. Parking will be limited for the event as classes at PLU are in session. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Edgewood Food Bank.
Buller is an instrumentalist, teacher, bandleader and singer-songwriter known for his mean trumpet playing, rapier wit and spontaneity. He met Porter, his “partner in rhyme,” 12 years ago when they worked together in a Seattle band.
Their repertoire includes solo and duet vocals of jazz standards and swing tunes, along with some Latin, jump and blues. Their band includes guitarist Christopher Woitach, bassist Larry Holloway and drummer Julian MacDonough.
