Donations needed for Operation Iraqi Children effort

November 22, 2007

Donations of school supplies and gifts for Iraqi children are currently being sought from the PLU community.

The Diversity Center and Army Reserve Officer Training Corps have joined forces to bring Operation Iraqi Children, a grassroots organization, to PLU. Coalition troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan have gone to great lengths to support schools in these countries. The organization sends supplies to the troops engaged in humanitarian projects.

Donations will be accepted through Nov. 29 and can be placed in bins located in the residence halls, the Diversity Center or Memorial Gym. Items needed include:

School Supplies
  • 12-inch rulers with metric markings
  • Unused No. 2 pencils
  • Small pencil sharpeners
  • Large erasers
  • Boxes of colored pencils
  • Notebook paper
  • Composition/spiral notebooks
  • Folders with inside pockets
  • Blunt-end scissors

Gifts
  • Stuffed animals

  • Blankets
