Documentary film premiere screening in Ingram

November 09, 2007

A premiere screening of the documentary film “An Unreasonable Man” is slated for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in room 100 of Ingram Hall.

The 60-minute film takes an unsparing look at Ralph Nader, one of the most important and controversial political figures of today. For more than 40 years, Nader has worked tirelessly as a consumer advocate, but today, many consider him merely an egomaniac and a “spoiler.”

The documentary is scheduled for its debut broadcast on PBS on Dec. 18. It is one in a series of Independent Television Service (ITVS) programs.

The premiere screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Pierce County Green Party, the League of Women Voters and PLU’s political science department. The screening is free to attend. It is sponsored by PLU’s MediaLab and French Club, ITVS Community Cinema Tacoma and KCTS-TV in Seattle.

MediaLab, a student-led organization within the School of Arts and Communication, will host an ITVS documentary premiere screening each month through April 2008. Upcoming films include “Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita” in December and “Banished” in January.
