Annual fair brings jobs, internships to students

October 12, 2007

The annual fall Career, Internship and Graduate Program Fair will be held Oct. 24 and 25 in the lower level of the University Center.

At the fair, dubbed “Backpack to Briefcase,” students can network with potential employers, as well as learn more about career and internship opportunities and the requirements of local graduate programs. Employers attend the fair with the intent to hire employees and interns.

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include representatives from business, private corporations, hospitals, healthcare and the military. A separate School District Fair for newly minted teachers will be held the same day from 3 to 5 p.m. in Chris Knutzen Hall.

The second day of the fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It features employers from non-profit organizations, state and federal agencies, and recruiters for graduate programs.

Students are encouraged to dress professionally, bring copies of their resume and be prepared to present themselves in a professional manner. To find a complete list of employers attending the fair and for tips on appearing professional, visit Career Development’s Web site.

The fair is sponsored by the Office of Career Development and the Academic Internships Office.
