KPLU GM elected president of regional organization
October 12, 2007
KPLU General Manager Paul Stankavich was elected as the president of the Western States Public Radio organization last Tuesday. He will hold the position for two years.
As president, his responsibilities include attending the quarterly National Public Radio board meetings as a representative of WSPR members, planning and organizing the annual conference and representing the interests of member stations.
WSPR was formed about 10 years ago, when West Coast Public Radio and Rocky Mountain Public Radio merged. The organization exists to provide resources for regional public broadcast stations and interaction among these stations, as well as representation for member organizations on the regional and national level.
Stankavich previously served two terms as treasurer of the organization and has been an active participant in its activities since the mid-1990s.
During his tenure, Stankavich will be assisted by Jon Schwartz, of Wyoming Public Radio who was elected vice president; Karen Holp, of Oklahoma Public Radio, treasurer; John Hesse, of Boise Public Radio, secretary; and Beth Warren, of Durango Public Radio, member-at-large.
