Pacific Lutheran University, together with the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington, Tacoma, was recognized for Excellence in Environmental Education at the annual Bay Hero Awards, sponsored by Citizens of a Healthy Bay.

The three Tacoma institutions were recognized for their outstanding contributions to environmental education in the region. Receiving the 2007 Bay Hero Award for Excellence in Environmental Education on behalf of PLU were environmental studies faculty members Duncan Foley, Rose McKenney, Kevin O’Brien, Bob Stivers and Jill Whitman.

The award was presented at the Citizens for a Healthy Bay 2007 Auction and Bay Hero Awards in Tacoma on Sept. 22.
