Call for December 2007 Commencement speakers
September 21, 2007
The President’s office is currently soliciting December 2007 student speaker nominations.
The tradition for student speakers at our commencement exercises began two years ago. These students represent their graduating class, and their remarks augment those of the primary commencement speaker.
Students selected should characterize the mission of the university, as persons educated for “lives of thoughtful inquiry, services, leadership and care – for other people, for their communities and for the earth.”
These students should be articulate and able to engage a large audience. The student must be a participant in the December 2007 Commencement. Nominations should be submitted to the President’s office by Oct. 5. Students nominated will be invited to submit an application and resume. Student speakers will be selected from these applications.
For more information, or a nomination form, contact the President’s office at 253-535-7101.
