The Metropolitan talks on orthodoxy and spiritual healing

Two orthodox priests visited the campus last week as part of the lecture delivered by Hierotheos S. Vlachos, the Metropolitan of Nafpaktos, a ruling Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church.

The Metropolitan delivered a talk last Tuesday on the “Orthodoxy as a Method of Spiritual Healing,” in the Regency Room of University Center.

Walking with the Metropolitan (pictured right) is Father Tryphon Parsons, the abbot of All-Merciful Savior Russian Orthodox Monastery on Vashon Island.

In his writing and talks, the Metropolitan has concluded that contemporary human beings seek and are essentially in need of a cure for the soul. To address this need, the Metropolitan explained in his talk last week that orthodoxy, as it exists within the framework of the Orthodox Church, emerges as a theological science of healing because of its aim to guide the lost soul to God.
