You, the people: Happy Constitution Day
September 14, 2007
PLU will observe Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 17 from 3 to 4 p.m. in room 133 of the University Center.
This year marks the 220th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States on Sept. 17, 1787 by 55 delegates in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. The document clearly defines and separates the powers of the central government, the powers of the states, the rights of the people and how the representatives of the people should be elected.
At PLU’s celebration of the event, political science professor Sid Olufs will explore the meaning of the words, “We the People.”
For more information, contact LeAnn Evey at ext. 7129.
