Welcome to PLU

PLU welcomed the following new employees:

Jessica Holden joined the Student Involvement and Leadership Office as the graduate intern. Holden graduated from PLU last May with a degree in communication with a concentration in conflict management and a minor in global studies. She previously worked for PLU’s Wang Center for International Programs and Information Insights in Fairbanks, Alaska. In her spare time, Holden enjoys outdoor activities like running and skiing, as well as playing the bass and traveling.

Joe Bell was hired as the environmental health and safety manager in the Office of Finance and Operations. Bell spent 12 years working in the health, safety and environmental disciplines for Waste Management Technologies, Eastman Kodak and Weyerhaeuser. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental geology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and belongs to the Tumwater Valley Golf Course Men’s Club and St. Michael’s Catholic parish. His hobbies include playing golf and making golf clubs, biking, tennis and beach combing.

Chris Wood is the fitness and strength coordinator and assistant track coach. Prior to joining PLU, he worked for Bucks County CC, LaSalle University and Temple University. Wood graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and earned a master’s in education from Temple University. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weight Lifting and USA Power Lifting. He and his wife, Nicole, a visiting instructor in the movement studies department, have a dog named Samurai.
