Training room gets buffed
August 31, 2007

PLU’s training room in Olson Gymnasium has more than doubled in size after a summer renovation.
The facility was expanded into a neighboring squash court, which created additional space for stretching, taping and treatment of injuries. Additionally, the whirlpool area has been completely enclosed and a leak fixed, and offices were created for head athletic trainer Gary Nicholson and assistant athletic trainer Jen Thomas.
The offices have two benefits: One, they give Nicholson and Thomas privacy when talking with students about medical issues, and two, they create a privacy barrier for students being treated in the facility.
The athletic training staff provides medical coverage including injury prevention, immediate care of injuries, injury recognition, evaluation and assessment, injury rehabilitation and reconditioning, and education and counseling. All student-athletes have access to the training room and the services.
To learn more, contact the training room at ext. 7366.
