Almost all the divisions and departments will have new faces in the classroom this year. The humanities and social sciences divisions received the bulk of this year’s new or visiting professors, with a total of 17 between both areas.

“There does seem to be a lot more (new professors) this year,” said Norris Peterson, dean of the social sciences.

He said the number of new professors might be a little higher than usual for his division because there are more visiting professors this year than last.

New faculty members attended orientation events last Thursday and Friday, which included a welcome reception, campus tour and information sessions about benefits and the university.
