Changes to UC room numbers affect event scheduling

July 13, 2007

The renovations to the University Center will bring changes to the scheduling feature on PLU’s online calendar.

Through the online Events Calendar, students, faculty and staff can schedule events or meetings in various rooms across campus. The feature provides a drop-down menu listing the rooms available in a particular building.

The room options for the University Center have changed, as the renovations resulted in adding new rooms and reassigning some old room numbers, said Kim Kennedy-Tucker, manager of Conferences and Events.

Kennedy-Tucker cautioned that old room numbers no longer refer to the same rooms. For example, room 206 currently listed in the calendar is not the same room as the UC’s former room 206. Instead, it is similar to the old room 212.

The only rooms that remain the same are Chris Knutzen Hall and the Scandinavian Cultural Center, she said.

In the calendar, the UC rooms will note in parentheses which old UC rooms they most closely resemble. For example, room 134 notes it is most like the old room 210, while room 133 is the former location of the Coffee Shop.

The capacity of each room will be listed on the Conferences and Events Web site by the end of July. Kennedy-Tucker said the numbers are estimates at this point.

In the renovated UC, the following spaces – and their corresponding calendar selections – no longer exist: the dining room, hallway regency area, Coffee Shop, bookstore, commons area, commuter lounge, mezzanine, Lute lounge, and rooms 124, 136, 140, 141, 208, 210 and 214.
