PLU names interim dean, associate director
June 14, 2007

PLU appointed an interim dean for the School of Business and an associate executive director of development in the Office of Development and University Relations.
William Frame, PLU’s former vice president for finance and operations, will return to the university as the interim dean for the School of Business. He will begin working at PLU on Sept. 1.
Frame brings a wealth of experience in the academic and corporate world to the position. He is a former professor and chair of the political science department at Kenyon College. He also worked in corporate banking, and served as vice president and corporate treasurer of the Tonka Corporation.
He worked at PLU from 1993 to 1997, before becoming the president of Augsburg College in Minneapolis. He retired from that position in 2006.
As interim dean, Frame will work with an associate dean team in the School of Business to continue initiatives underway there. Additionally, he will work closely with the executive advisory board for the school on external relations and head the search for a permanent dean.
Across campus, Stephen Olson will join the development office as the associate executive director of development. He begins work July 1.
“Steve will play a critical role in preparing for and managing the upcoming capital campaign and will lead our major gift officer team,” said Steve Titus, vice president for development and university relations.
Since 2000, Olson has served as a program director with The James Company, a development and fund raising consultant for churches located primarily in the Midwest. At the firm, he has managed stewardship and building appeals with congregations.
Olson has been a Lutheran pastor for 18 years, serving congregations in Washington state and Minnesota. At Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church, he oversaw the growth of church’s budget from $350,000 to $700,000 in 10 years. During that same time, he was instrumental in guiding two capital appeals, which together raised $1,750,000.
He also served as chair of the Stewardship Committee for the Northwest Washington Synod.
Olson and his wife, Barbara, live in Chaska, Minnesota. Their son, Aaron, is a sophomore at PLU, and their daughter, Kari, is a high school senior who is considering PLU for next year. Olson is the nephew of long-time Lute athletic director, David Olson.
