Areté Society recognizes excellent student scholarship

PLU’s Areté Society, which recognizes outstanding student scholarship in the liberal arts and sciences, inducted 36 new members on May 26.
The society is a prestigious honor society founded in 1969 on the principals of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and largest academic honor society. Each spring, the society’s faculty fellows elect student members, which include juniors and seniors, in recognition of their commitment to the liberal arts and record of high achievement.
Areté Society members must have a grade point average of at least 3.7, and have completed two years of college-level work in a foreign language, one year in mathematics and 110 liberal arts credit hours.
Those inducted to the society this spring included: Jonna Allen, Vanessa Bruce, Allison Cambronne, Jenny Marie Casey, Cellen Coakley, Heather Crane, Pamela Dearinger, Nicole DeCamp, Kerri Feider, Andrew Francis, Joseph Fries, Andrew Guinn, Tabitha Hall, Daniel Hibbard, Oanh Hoang, Blake Hovde, Kareen Kanjo, Gabri Kirkendall, Audrey Knutson, Jenny Krueger, Tanya Libby, Laura Milleville, Melissa Moon, Shannon Murphy, Jennifer Ng, Katherine Ramsey, Tory Silverstrin, Amy Spieker, Anne Spilman, John Stene, Brianna Taylor, Christina Tieu, Ruth Tollefson, Eileen Toth, Kari Williams and Melissa Youngquist.
