Survey to document PLU’s commute savvy

April 27, 2007

PLU employees are being asked to complete an online survey regarding their commuting habits in order to make the institution compliant with Pierce County regulations.

The county requires major area employers to issue the survey every two years; a 70 percent participation rate is required to make the survey qualify as valid under county rules.

The surveys are anonymous and are used to help the county assess its public transportation offerings and to help the university provide adequate incentives, through its “Commute Smart” program, to get employees to be more conscientious about how they get to work.

Employees can prepare to take the survey by clocking their one-way mileage to work including routine stops like dropping children off at school or daycare.

Commute Smart is encouraging everyone – even those who may not think they qualify – to take the survey. In the past, some employees have felt the survey didn’t apply to them because they live on or near campus or because they work from home several days a week.

Employees may login using their PLU ePass at https://www.ctrsurvey.org beginning today (April 30) through the end of the week. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Everyone who completes the survey will be entered to win 13, $20 gift cards from Target.

Hard-copy surveys are also available; to receive one, call ext. 7233 or e-mail Jennifer Wamboldt at wamboljm@plu.edu. The survey is also available in Braille, Cambodian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Russian, Tagalog and Laotian.
