Speakers chosen for spring commencement

Student and outside speakers are now set for the Class of 2007 commencement ceremony to be held at the Tacoma Dome on Sunday, May 27 at 2:30 p.m.
The graduating class of 2007 included 460 undergraduates and 52 graduate students.
Student speakers were selected this week, and include Jennifer Henrichsen and Jessica Holden, both of whom were nominated to speak by faculty and staff members.
The keynote speaker is former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. Reich served in three national administrations, most recently under former President Bill Clinton. He is currently a professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley. An accomplished author and scholar, Reich spoke at PLU in May 2006 at the dedication of the Morken Center for Learning and Technology.
This year marks the second year that commencement has been held off campus at the Tacoma Dome, allowing students to bring an unlimited number of friends and family to the ceremony. Tickets are not required.
The doors open at the Tacoma Dome at 1 p.m. the day of commencement, and candidates must arrive by 1 p.m. The bookstore will have PLU gear available for purchase at the Tacoma Dome.
A commercial photography service will be on hand to photograph graduates as they cross the stage and take a more formal portrait immediately after graduates collect their diplomas. Proofs of the photos will be sent via e-mail a few days after the ceremony. Purchasing photos is completely optional. For more information, visit www.photograds.com.
