Laughter and quirky characters at humanities’ spring play
April 20, 2007
The faculty and staff of the humanities division will present Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor” on Friday, April 27 at 4 p.m. in room 101 of the Hauge Administration Building.
Directed by French professor Scott Taylor, the play is an adaptation of several short stories written by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. The humanities division’s faculty and staff will act out the comedy in full dramatic flair, complete with wigs, make-up and other theatrical paraphernalia.
The play features a host of memorable characters, such as the theater-loving gardener who has an inconvenient allergy problem; a Cruella de Ville-esque mistress who keeps a tight rein on her finances; a “good doctor” who has all the necessary qualifications, except a degree; and an incorrigible seducer smitten with his friend’s lovely wife.
