Commute smart and win prizes

April 20, 2007

Faculty and staff who use alternative ways to get to work this week will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate to Tacoma Boys from PLU’s Commute Trip Reduction program.

The program rewards employees who bike, walk, carpool and take the bus to campus each day. Employees who work four 10-hour shifts a week or work from home are also eligible for the benefit. Those who participate in the program earn “reward points” that can be applied to Lute Bucks.

To be eligible for the Tacoma Boys’ gift certificate, employees must fill out a commute trip calendar specifying the days they used alternative forms transportation to get to work. The calendar needs to be returned to Jennifer Wamboldt, transportation coordinator, by the end of April. Request a commute trip calendar from commute@plu.edu.

In addition, the Washington Department of Transportation is conducting an annual survey to make sure PLU is reaching its commute trip reduction goals. This year’s survey will take place on April 30. Those who participate in the survey will be entered to win one of 13 $20 Target gift cards.
