Donors, students mix and mingle

Donors, students mix and mingle

About 200 students and scholarship donors gathered in Olson Auditorium for the Student Scholarship Donor Appreciation Reception last Tuesday.

The night’s reception brought the donors of endowed PLU scholarships face-to-face with the students who were recipients of those scholarship funds. The night included a brief program, but it largely gave the two groups time to mix and mingle.

Here, sophomore Shamay Thomas chats with Thomas Dixon and philosophy professor Paul Menzel. Menzel’s mother, Annmarie Menzel, is the actual donor of the scholarship, which is named for Dixon and awarded to a nursing student each year.

The program included an expression of gratitude by students Anne Syvertson and Elliott Johnson, and remarks on the importance of giving back by alum Lisa Kind Korsmo ’87.
