Going down

The University Center renovation is well underway, as construction crews have demolished most of the building’s lower level.

Pictured here is the former office location of Campus Ministry, with the former Diversity Center and Commuter Lounge visible in the background through the now-destroyed walls.

The UC officially closed and locked its doors last Monday, just as students returned to campus after spring break. The renovation will update and improve the building, while also making it more student-focused. The improved space will cluster student organizations together and provide additional services, offices and recreation areas, as well as a conference center and catering facilities.

Last week, Dining Services relocated its main operation to the Columbia Center on lower campus. A variety of other dining options are available to students, including a temporary eatery, The Old Main Grill, on Garfield Street and vouchers that can be used to eat at Garfield Street restaurants. Former UC residents have relocated to temporary sites across campus. For a complete listing of those new sites, and for more information on the UC renovation, visit www.plu.edu/~newbuild/university-center/home.html.
