Earthquake drill to test PLU’s preparedness
April 05, 2007
Drop, cover and hold during the statewide earthquake drill on Tuesday, April 24 at 9:40 a.m.
The drill is part of a statewide earthquake drill that same day, and PLU is required to participate as part of the university’s emergency preparedness program. The exercise will also assess PLU’s preparedness for an earthquake and identify opportunities for improvement.
During an actual earthquake, protect yourself by dropping to the floor when the ground begins to shake. Take cover under or beside a sturdy piece of furniture, such as a desk or table, or against an inside wall and protect your head and neck with your arms. Stay in that position until the shaking stops.
When the shaking stops, check yourself and others for injuries, exit the building and head for an emergency assembly point. Make sure to report your status to the emergency building coordinator before leaving the area.
