RAs needed for summer business week program

March 16, 2007

Washington Business Week will return to the PLU campus this summer, and the program is looking to hire residential advisors.

The weeklong event is designed for high school students with an interest in learning about business and the economy. The students will live on campus from June 24 to 30 and participate in hands-on activities.

RAs are expected to live in the residence halls for the duration of the program, enforce curfew rules, plan and implement activities for students in the evening and act as a mentor and role model. RAs will receive a $400 stipend for the week, along with free meals and housing. Applications are due by May 15, and they are available at www.wbw.org.

Business week allows students to run a simulated business and compete with participants from around the state. Each company includes 10 to 12 participants and a volunteer mentor from the business community to help guide them through the week.

The experience gives students interested in attending post-secondary education a chance to see what life at a university is like, while also giving them exposure to the business community and the opportunity to meet students from around the state.
