Shattered dreams
March 09, 2007

The University Theatre Department opened “The Glass Menagerie” last week.
The drama depicts the story of a mother on a quest to find a suitor for her daughter. Throughout the play, the characters cling to a dream world, only to have the illusion shattered by reality.
The play was Tennessee Williams’ first dramatic success, and he based it on his life, his mother and his sister, said theater professor, Brian Desmond. Following the drama’s success, Williams went on to write “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
Directed by Desmond, PLU’s production features students (from left) Christopher Staudinger, Megan Cooper, Tristan Morris and Julie Wolfson. The remaining shows are in Eastvold Auditorium on March 15, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and on March 18 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for the PLU community, students, seniors and children. To reserve tickets, call Campus Concierge at 253-535-7411.
