Fellowship supports PLU’s sustainability efforts

March 23, 2007

Students interested in furthering the sustainability effort on campus are encouraged to apply for a Student Sustainability Fellowship for 2007-2008. The application deadline is this Thursday, April 5.

The fellowships are open to students from any discipline. Students will receive $3500 to research existing practices and the use of resources on campus, while also examining best practices on other college and university campuses and at facilities in the area.

Fellowship recipients are expected to propose strategies and solutions that address sustainability challenges at PLU and help identify funding agencies and opportunities for projects. Students work in collaboration with faculty and staff advisors.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit proposals for projects they are interested in or feel there is a need to address. All project proposals received will be posted on the Campus Sustainability Committee’s Web site. Students can either propose their own fellowship project or opt to work on one suggested by faculty or staff.

For the 2007-2008 academic year, two fellowships will be awarded. Recipients must complete their projects between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008.
