Lutheran Volunteer Corps presents concert at PLU

Singer and songwriter Michael Stern will perform on Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Lagerquist Concert Hall.

The concert is presented by Lutheran Volunteer Corps, a yearlong service program that seeks to unite faith, social justice, community living and simplicity. Volunteers work full-time in various nonprofit organizations located in 10 metropolitan areas in the United States.

A Washington native, Stern is a composer, folk singer and inspirational speaker, and he has traveled the world singing and working for peace and justice. His travels include a Habitat For Humanity singing/building trip to Malawi and Zimbabwe, disaster relief work after a major earthquake in El Salvador, building a vocational school in Nicaragua and working at an inner city Head Start Center in Ohio.

Stern studied theology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Washington. He currently works as family nurse practitioner, is conducting research on the human papilloma virus and consults for the student immunization program at the University of Washington.
