Lecture by Oaxacan priest canceled

The lecture by Oaxacan theologian and priest, Father Manuel Arias Montes, on Tuesday, March 13 has been canceled.
Montes identifies as a Mixtec Oaxacan. “Mixtec” describes the indigenous people who inhabit Oaxaca, a Mexican state. Montes has spent several years in pastoral work for the Archdiocese of Oaxaca, serving as theologian and pastor for the indigenous poor.
Montes has lectured throughout Europe and Latin America. Most of his presentations focus on his concept of the inculturated gospel in native communities in Latin America.
Montes studied philosophy and theology at the Seminario Regional del Sureste in Tehuacán, Puebla, and he was ordained in 1976. He earned a master’s in dogmatic theology from the Gregorian University in Rome and a doctorate in theology from the University of Tubingen in Germany.
