Grants fund experiential, global projects
February 16, 2007
The Wang Center will accept applications for grant money to support advanced research and experiential learning projects in a global context through Friday, Feb. 23.
The grant program is available for student projects, student-faculty team projects and faculty projects to be completed between June 2007 and May 2008.
Students must propose projects that will contribute to their educational experience in ways that aren’t available through traditional study abroad programs. In general, the grants are intended to support supplementary travel expenses for capstone research, independent internships, service learning projects or other independent projects. Students may be awarded up to $1,000.
Student and faculty research team projects are expected to undertake advanced research in a global context. The grant is intended to support supplementary travel expenses. Research teams may be awarded from $5,000 to $7,500.
Faculty members will receive support for international advanced research or travel and development of off-campus student learning opportunities, like new J-Term courses or internships. Faculty can receive up to $2,500.
The Faculty Committee for International Education determines which proposed projects receive funding. Last spring, three students, two student-faculty teams and seven faculty members were awarded Wang Center grants totaling $30,000.
