Diversity Center promoting local cultural events online
February 16, 2007
Local cultural activities happening in South Puget Sound can now be found on the Diversity Center’s Web site.
The new Web page promotes internationally and ethnically diverse events, including concerts, plays and speakers.
“We started it in conjunction with the upcoming World Conversations events, to connect the local and global events going on,” said Angie Hambrick, associate director of multicultural affairs.
Upcoming events include Maya Angelou’s presentation at The Evergreen State College on Feb. 18 and a speech by Angela Davis, co-founder of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, at Tacoma Community College on Feb. 28. For some events, like Davis’ speech, the Diversity Center will provide transportation, Hambrick said.
