Discussion tackles fact vs. imagination
February 09, 2007
Potential collaborations between scientists and artists will be discussed at “The Truth and Beauty Project: A Roundtable Discussion on Intersections between Natural Sciences, Mathematics and the Arts” on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Regency Room.
The discussion will feature eight PLU professors from the math, natural sciences, music and art departments. The professors will identify opportunities for scientists and artists to work together, both at PLU and in the world.
The discussion will center on the connections between science and art; how much scientists, mathematicians and artists have in common; and how PLU faculty and students can begin imagining cross-disciplinary work, perhaps resulting in research or capstone projects.
Faculty and students are invited to participate in the discussion. For more information, contact Greg Youtz at ext. 7619.
