“Hot Topics” keeps employees informed
January 12, 2007
To keep employees up-to-date on federal and state wage information, the Payroll Office has created a new newsletter.
The newsletter, titled “Hot Topics,” will be published quarterly and can be found on the office’s Web site. The first issue, published this month, explains changes to federal withholding amounts, insurance rates and the state minimum wage.
Also beginning this January, salaried staff members are required to record all “in” and “out” times on their timesheets. Hourly staff are already required to log their time in this manner.
The change comes on the heels of recent weather closures. In situations where the university is forced to close due to weather or power failures, it is necessary for the office to determine the exact hours worked by all staff, and the new system will make that possible.
