Trick-or-treaters raid campus on Tuesday
October 27, 2006
On Halloween night, PLU will once again welcome children from the Parkland community to trick-or-treat in the residence halls from 6 to 8 p.m.
All of the campus residence halls will be open to trick-or-treaters, said Amy Irish, program specialist for Residential Life. Some halls, like Hinderlie, are also hosting Halloween parties or haunted houses.
If students wish to participate and hand out candy, they can get a paper pumpkin at the front desk of their residence hall beginning at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The pumpkin should be placed on the door to their room, identifying it as a room with candy.
Irish recommends buying lots of candy. The children will begin their candy quest at Garfield Street businesses before heading to PLU. The event is being advertised to children in the Franklin-Pierce school district, and local Head Start and church programs.
“We’ve never done a good count, but we do get lots of kids,” Irish said.
The Residence Hall Association will also host their annual food drive, trick or can, on Tuesday evening. Trick-or-treaters who wish to participate will drop off a can of food at the first residence hall they visit.
Residence Life asks that all trick-or-treaters be under 13 years old and accompanied by an adult.
